The First Berserker Khazan Leveling Guide

Author: Unknown Author Update Time: 2025-04-01

Having a great The First Berserker Khazan leveling guide is crucial for character development. Like any good soulslike, proper leveling makes you tougher, hits harder, and generally makes those brutal boss fights a bit less, well, brutal. This guide is your ultimate companion for leveling up in Khazan, covering how it works, the best stats to focus on, and even how to reset if you mess up!

Leveling Up in The First Berserker Khazan

To level up in Leveling Up in The First Berserker Khazan, you'll need to gather Lacrima by defeating enemies and bosses, then spend it at a Blade Nexus to boost your stats, Vitality, Endurance, Strength, Willpower, and Proficiency. Be careful though – dying drops your Lacrima, but the game does reward you with some Lacrima just for attempting boss fights, which is a nice touch.

How Lacrima Works in The First Berserker Khazan

Think of Lacrima as the main currency for getting stronger in Khazan, kinda like Souls in Dark Souls or Runes in Elden Ring.

  • How to get Lacrima: You primarily get Lacrima by defeating enemies you encounter in the world. Bosses drop a chunk when defeated, too.
  • Boss Attempt Rewards: Khazan has a cool system where you also gain some Lacrima just for attempting a boss fight. How much you get depends on how much damage you dealt or if the boss has multiple phases you reached. This reward is given to you when you respawn, making tough boss runs feel a little less punishing.
  • The Catch - Death: Here's the Soulslike staple: when you die, you drop all the Lacrima you were carrying right where you fell. You get one chance to go back to that spot and pick it up. If you die again before reclaiming your lost Lacrima, it's gone for good. So be careful after dying!
  • Other Sources: Keep an eye out for items you might find in the world; sometimes these can give you Lacrima directly when you use them.

Using Blade Nexuses in The First Berserker Khazan

Scattered around the world, you'll find Blade Nexuses. These are your safe spots, similar to Bonfires in Dark Souls.

  • Functions: Resting at a Blade Nexus does a few key things:
    • Restores your health completely.
    • Replenishes your healing items.
    • Allows you to Level Up by spending your collected Lacrima to increase your stats.
    • Resets the area, respawning all regular enemies (bosses stay dead, though!).

Understanding Stats in The First Berserker Khazan

When you level up at a Blade Nexus, you spend Lacrima to increase your core stats. There are five main stats:

  • Vitality:
    • Increases Max Health by 50.
    • Decreases Weight slightly (by 0.05%).
    • Increases all Attribute Resistances by 4. (Basically makes you tougher against elemental stuff).
  • Endurance:
    • Increases Max Health by 10.
    • Increases Max Stamina by 15. (More dodging, blocking, attacking!)
    • Increases Attack DMG by 1 (a very small flat amount).
    • Increases Stamina Recovery speed by 0.8%.
  • Strength:
    • Increases Max Health by 10.
    • Decreases Weight more noticeably (by 0.1%).
    • Increases Received Stamina DMG Decrease by 0.6% (You lose less stamina when hit).
    • (Attack Damage scaling depends on weapon - see below)
  • Willpower:
    • Increases Max Health by 10.
    • Increases Stamina recovery speed by 0.4%.
    • Increases Guard Stamina DMG Decrease by 0.7% (Blocking costs less stamina).
    • (Attack Damage scaling depends on weapon - see below)
  • Proficiency:
    • Increases Max Health by 10.
    • Increases Stamina DMG by 0.4% (You deal more stamina damage to enemies).
    • Increases Dodge Stamina Cost Decrease by 0.7% (Dodging costs less stamina).
    • (Attack Damage scaling depends on weapon - see below)

How Weapon Scaling Works in The First Berserker Khazan

This is super important! Notice how Attack Damage wasn't the main point for Strength, Willpower, and Proficiency? That's because how much attack damage you gain from those stats depends entirely on the type of weapon you're using.

There are three main weapon types, each scaling differently:

  • Dual Wield: Scales primarily with Willpower. Its secondary scaling stat is Strength.
    • Check out our The First Berserker Khazan: Best Dual-Wield Build here!
  • Greatsword: Scales primarily with Strength. Its secondary scaling stat is Proficiency.
    • Check our our The First Berserker Khazan: Best Greatsword Build here!
  • Spear: Scales primarily with Proficiency. Its secondary scaling stat is Willpower.

What this means: If you're using a Spear, putting points into Strength won't increase your attack damage at all. You need to level up Proficiency for the biggest damage boost, and Willpower for a smaller boost. Choose your weapon type first, then focus on its main scaling stats!

Best Stats to Level Early in The First Berserker Khazan

Okay, so where should you put those precious early Lacrima points in Best Stats to Level Early in The First Berserker Khazan?

  1. Vitality First: Pump a few points into Vitality right away. Getting your Max Health up increases your chances of surviving mistakes, which you'll definitely make early on. Plus, you get tiny boosts to damage and resistance. Get it to a level where you feel comfortable taking a hit or two.
    • It also helps you learn the game mechanics a bit more. As parrying is such a vital system, being able to take a few blows will help you learn.
  2. Focus on Your Weapon's Main Stat: Once your health feels decent, start investing heavily in the primary scaling stat for your chosen weapon type.
    • Using Dual Blades? Level Willpower.
    • Rocking a Greatsword? Focus on Strength.
    • Wielding a Spear? Pump points into Proficiency.
      • This will give you the biggest boost to your damage output.
  3. Consider Endurance: Endurance is always important for stamina, letting you attack, dodge, and block more. It's especially helpful for faster fights (like the first tough boss, Viper, the first true skill check of Khazan).

How to Respec Your Stats in The First Berserker Khazan

Made some mistakes? Decided you hate Greatswords and want to try a Spear? You can reset your stats and get all your spent Lacrima back.

  • The Item Needed: You need an item called a Primeval Regression Orb.
  • Where to Buy It: You purchase this Orb from the Bard NPC, who acts as a shop. He's located in the Forgotten Temple area. The Orb costs 10,000 Gold.
  • Important Note on Refunding: The item description might confusingly say it only refunds one stat type, but don't worry – using it refunds ALL your spent Lacrima from ALL stats, giving you a clean slate.
  • Limited Stock: Be aware that the Bard NPC only has three Primeval Regression Orbs in stock initially. But upon completing or resetting the mission he restocks. I have confirmed this.
  • How to Use It:
    1. Buy the Orb from the Bard.
    2. Open your inventory.
    3. Select the Primeval Regression Orb and choose to use it.
    4. A confirmation window will pop up. Click "OK" if you're sure you want to reset your stats.
    5. All your Lacrima spent on stats will be returned, ready for you to reallocate!
